Travel Vaccinations

Unfortunately we are no longer able to provide a comprehensive travel service.  This is a non-NHS service and due to demands on our practice nurse team we are unable to provide this.  We will continue to provide the following travel vaccinations which are available on the NHS.

  • Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio booster
  • Hepatitis A
  • Typhoid

It is important when travelling abroad that you have the appropriate travel advice, vaccinations and anti-malarial medication.  You can get information from a number of websites but we would recommend you try the website ‘Fit For Travel’ (www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk). We recommend reading the sections on ‘Advice’ covering all health and safety advice and ‘Destinations’ to search for the latest information on the recommended vaccinations for the country you are visiting.

If you require only the vaccinations listed above, please book an appointment with the practice nurse. If you need vaccinations not available under the NHS, you will need to make contact with a private travel clinic who will advise you fo the fees involved. Details of local private clinics are below but please note this information does not constitute a recommendation.  Private travel clinics can also provide the vaccinations available under the NHS but you will be charged a fee for these. It is quite acceptable to have your NHS vaccinations at the surgery and then pay for the additional non-NHS vaccinations required at a private travel clinic.

If you are unsure what vaccinations you have already received, we will be happy to supply you with a print out free of charge but you will have to attend the surgery to obtain this.  We do not email information from patient records.

If you require any NHS vaccinations, please allow at least 8 weeks prior to travelling to find out your requirements and book the relevant appointments. You will need to book a routine appointment with a practice nurse. Please advise the receptionist that this is for travel vaccinations and the country you are travelling to.

If you have no access the internet, we will print out the relevant information for you on advice and destination vaccination requirements but there is a fee for this service of £20.
