Cervical Smear Screening
All women between the ages of 25 and 64 are eligible for a cervical smear test every three to five years.
Age group (years) | Frequency of Screening |
25 | First invitation |
25 – 49 | 3 yearly |
50 – 64 | 5 yearly |
Reminders are sent to all patients by the TVPCA (Thames Valley Patient Services Agency) automatically.
To ensure you receive the result without delay, please contact the surgery approximately 3 weeks following your smear test although you should receive a letter confirming the result in due course.
If further examination is required, the Laboratory will automatically refer you to a consultant for this. We will make every effort to contact you by letter advising you of this should it be necessary.
If you do not wish to be called for cervical screening, please complete a disclaimer form and return it to the surgery. This form can be located in Patient Forms.
